Greatest Monday ever? Wow! $100 Cabernet for $50? Yes please! Chaix is a relatively new producer, but they’ve been selling grapes for years to some of the most high-end wineries you can think of. They have PRIME land right next to the legendary Scarecrow vineyard in Rutherford proper (that one sells for between $200-$1000!!).

We are incredibly lucky to live and breathe Napa Valley, so we are one of the very few places you can even FIND this powerhouse! The style of the new 2016 is a little richer and fuller than the last vintage, with a little more polish, too -- TRUST YOUR WINE MERCHANT, this drinks like something that costs way WAY more scratch. It reminds us of wines like BV’s $150 Georges de Latour bottling, or perhaps something from Staglin or Mondavi Reserve. Anyway, it drinks WAY over our price. Cassis, dusty wild blackberries, sweet spices and a touch of muscularity, it will last for a decade easily (well, not in our house, but you know what we mean).

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 94+ points: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet-purple color and opens with notes of candied violets, licorice and scorched earth over a crème de cassis and stewed plums core with a waft of sautéed herbs. Full-bodied and packed with black fruit preserves and savory accents, it has a firm, chewy frame and finishes with emerging exotic spices."

Drop dead amazing! While it lasts…!
